Carmita Jiménez was a style queen and radio diva in Puerto Rico. She was adored by fans for her dramatic performances. She began her career singing with Moncho Usera's orchestra in 1958. Through Usera, Carmita connected with Ansonia Records where she recorded and released her debut album in 1961. This albums features the popular boleros, "Tierra Rica," "Tal Es La Vida," and "Añoranza."

During the 60s, she lived in Peru in an effort to internationalize her career and in the 70s, she returned to PR and released several disco hits.
