José Antonio Salamán began his career singing in his hometown of La Playa de Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was known as “El Cantor del Pueblo” (The Singer of the People). His popularity spread throughout Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, eventually landing him in New York City where he signed with Ansonia Records, releasing this 1956 album.
