about

Born into a musical family in Humacao, Puerto Rico in 1931, Lucy Fabery immigrated to the United States by the age of 20. There, she began a career singing in cabarets around New York City. After seeing her perform, actor Rafael Benliza gave her the name "La Muñeca de Chocolate," based on her physical appearance and sensual stage presence.

As she grew famous, she went on tours across Latin America eventually gaining residency in Havana, Cuba where she became one of the most successful late-night acts before the revolution.

One of four albums Lucy Fabery ever released, "La Fabulosa," is a special album among the Ansonia catalog.
