about

Miguel Alcaide, aka Miguelito Alcaide, is a self-taught requinto guitarist from Hatillo, Puerto Rico. He shines in this solo album of guitar and rhythm instrumentals.

In the 1960s, he performed along with his quartet “The Four Amigos” on the Elvis Presley pictures “Fun in Acapulco” and “Girl, Girls, Girls.” One day during a break on set, Miguel was playing “Noche de Ronda” as well as other Latin selections. His playing caught Elvis’ ear, who was so impressed that he insisted Miguel keep playing, turning a short break into a two-hour performance. At the end of that performance, Elvis took off his wrist watch and handed it to Miguel as a token of his admiration.

One of his last recorded works before his death in 1988, and his only solo album, "Noche de Ronda" showcases the Miguel Alcaide talent that had so moved Elvis.
