about

Los Chavales De España (“The Kids from Spain”) is an 11-member group featuring the vocals of tenor Luis Tamayo and baritone Pepe Lara, with Angel Riera on violin and Manolo Palos (the group’s musical director) on piano.

Formed in 1940 in Barcelona, Spain, they gained popularity in their home country before grabbing the attention of the Latin world, particularly Cuba, where they achieved great success. They played extensively in Cuba until 1959 when Fidel Castro's forces took over. They continued to tour globally until they broke up in 1982.

Between the eleven members, they played 26 instruments, allowing for a diverse musical repertoire, ranging from boleros to tonadillas.

"Romance" includes the Los Chavales De España classic: “Camino Verde”.
