Not to be confused with Manuel “Canario” Jimenéz of Canario y Su Grupo, Manuel Jimenéz, known as “La Pulguita” is a singer, guitarist, and composer from Puerto Rico. Originally a member of Cuarteto Mayarí in Puerto Rico, he later joined Trío Johnny Rodríguez before organizing his own group, Manuel Jimenéz y Su Cuarteto in 1945.

Siempre Alegres features music exclusively composed by Manuel Jimenéz, including the title track “Siempre Alegres,” and “La Pulguita,” the plena porro song that earned Jimenéz his nickname.
