about

Julito Rodriguez started playing music as a child, and was quickly recognized as a prodigy across Puerto Rico. He caught the attention of Puerto Rican legends Rafael Alers (his ROTC band leader) and Rafael Hernandez, who groomed him for stardom. In 1952 he was invited to move to Mexico to join the already massive Trio Los Panchos, with whom he recorded 122 songs and toured the world, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America. In 1961, he formed Trio Los Primos, the first Puerto Rican trio to perform at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, later changing the name to Julito Rodriguez y su Trio.
